Institute Becomes Green Construction Benchmark

The Zuckerman Institute for Connective Environmental Research (ZICER) is a new environmental research institute located at the University of East Anglia (UEA). Located within UEA's School of Environmental Sciences, the research venture is designed to address environmental challenges through closer and more effective communication with business, policy makers and wider society.

ZICER is more than just a research facility and the new building itself resets the benchmark for green construction. Officially opened earlier this month, the environmental features of the building include photovoltaic panels to produce electricity, air tightness, insulation, reduced artificial lighting, natural ventilation and recycled concrete aggregates in the foundations.
