Experts from the USA and the UK will explain the use of charrettes in improving building and community design at a seminar in London on 24 May 2005.
Already established as best practice in the Unites States and used by major UK clients, developers, architects and planning authorities, the charrette process brings the client, design team and stakeholders together at the start of a project to create the best possible plan. This involves intensive, facilitated discussions during which opportunities are identified to reduce waste and environmental impact, improve performance and enhance the well being of communities and occupants. Substantial savings in construction costs and time are also often made.
The seminar, How to create demonstrably better communities and buildings, has been designed to be of interest to clients, developers, planners, architects, specifiers, technical specialists and property consultants.
Speakers include Bill Lennertz of the US-based National Charrette Institute, David Strong of BRE Environment and Hank Dittmar of The Prince's Foundation.
