WoodSurfaceFilm Treatment from EcoBlu Inhibits Growth of Mold and Mycotoxins on Lumber

EcoBlu Products, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: ECOB) announced today that the company's Patent Pending WoodSurfaceFilm™ treatment demonstrated the ability to inhibit the growth of mold and the production of mycotoxins on lumber products.

Additionally the WoodSurfaceFilm™ treatment has exhibited extreme efficacy in eradicating, both short and long term, existing mold and mycotoxin poisons on lumber substrates.

ECOB began working with RealTime Laboratories, LLC (RTL), Carrollton, TX, early in 2010. A study was conducted to determine the relationship of mold and mycotoxins on lumber and the efficacy of ECOB on such contaminated lumber. It has been known that mold, when threatened by environmental challenges, produce poisons classified as mycotoxins. These poisons (toxins) can be Aflatoxins, Ochratoxins or Tricothecenes. The toxins are very small and float on dust particles in the surrounding air. Because they are so small, these mycotoxins can travel through filters in common HVAC systems of homes and buildings. RTL has utility patents on test procedures which can determine the presence of mycotoxins on or in environmental substances such as wood. The lab is a clinical laboratory which meets the standards set forth by the Clinical Laboratories Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA).

Medical Director, Dennis Hooper, M.D., Ph.D. reported, "This ECOB study is significant in that it demonstrates mycotoxins (poisons) from toxin producing molds (fungi) can be inhibited with specific products (i.e. ECOB and ECOB (+) Plus). Aflatoxins and Ochratoxin A were present in the untreated wood samples. There were no mycotoxins (specifically Aflatoxins and Ochratoxin A) present on the treated samples of wood," continued Hooper. "It appears with this study that both the ECOB and the ECOB (+) inhibit fungal growth and thus mycotoxin production." Medical literature documents that mycotoxins can be associated with neurological conditions, urinary tract conditions, skin lesions, and malignancies of kidney, bladder, brain in both animals and humans. "It is extremely important that humans should not be exposed to such dangerous toxins," added Hooper.

Dr. Gordon Chiu, Chief Scientific Advisor of EcoBlu Products comments, "The fungal outbreaks over the past decade have increased exponentially due to rising inclement weather changes worldwide. Mold growth on lumber effecting homeowners is a very real problem. California "Green Initiative" in effect this year attempts to address these issues mandating the moisture content of framing lumber is less than 19% before approval to wrap the home is granted. Unfortunately the Virginia homeowner in this FOX5 news report experienced the effects of mold and mycotoxin contamination in their living environment.
