Icon Construction Completes Modular Training Facility at Fort Tinker

Icon Construction has announced that it has completed construction of a new modular training facility over an area of 1,200 sq.m designed especially for foot training purposes. As part of the turn-key design/build project for the US Air Force the company was responsible for design, engineering, manufacturing, delivery, interior communications, installations, HVAC systems, and fire alarm.

Modular Building

The training facility will be used for Server and Remote training areas. Construction process of the project commenced on September 26, 2011 and was completed before the deadline on November 04, 2011. A superintendent from Icon Construction monitored the project from the beginning till completion.

Tinker Air Force base is the headquarters of the Air Force Materials Command’s Oklahoma City Air Logistics Centre. This centre manages missiles, avionics, software and various aircrafts globally. Tinker base is also known as the STRATCOMWINGONE, the Strategic Communications Wing One for the US Navy. This organisation is a combination of three squadrons of shore- based navy Air Wing staff and a wing staff, which have been integrated with the Air Force. More than 1,300 active duty sailors and 100 contractors are part of this organisation, which provide security, operations, logistic, training, maintenance and administration support to the E6B Mercury aircraft fleet of the US Navy.
