In 2007, an eight-lane, steel truss arch- Minneapolis I-35W bridge collapsed into Mississippi River within 13 sec. The reason for the devastation however was not clearly resolved. Sabotage could not have been the reason for the I-35 bridge collapse. Almost 600,000 U.S bridges measure 20 ft.

Crossrail’s first giant tunnel boring machine (TBM), Phyllis, has broken ground at Royal Oak to construct the first section of tunnel between Royal Oak and Farringdon.
Luxury home builder, Shapell Homes has announced that it will build a residential neighbourhood in Wilder over an area of 1,600 ac in Orinda, California. Towards this end, the company has entered into an agreement with developer Brooks Street.

The computing center at Rutgers’s School of Engineering will be powered by 16 polycrystalline solar panels. For this purpose, researchers will use Parasol to determine how computing and data processing can be managed effectively with the use of electricity generated through solar power. The Amherst County Adult Detention Centre of the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority has received LEED certification from USGBC. The facility, which has been designed by Moseley Architects, is the first such facility owned by the Authority to achieve LEED certification.

UK based Shea Concrete has announced that it has completed the delivery of ballasts for a power plant. According to the contract, the company was the sole supplier of the ballasts and was responsible for manufacturing an encasement for two 660 linear feet runs of 48” outfall pipes.
